ANTON DELECCA QUARTET VS. REMCO KEIJZER QUARTET
WEDNESDAY MAY 18th 2016, 8.00pm
From Stonnington Jazz Festival's website:
This commanding jazz session will feature sets from both quartets: stunning modal and contemporary jazz sounds from camp Delecca juxtaposed against the soulful bop-orientated sounds from team Keijzer. Hear jazz worlds collide when the two quartets join for an unforgettable orbit of double tenor-led tracks.
The mutual respect, friendship and collaboration between these two musicians generates a sublime sound and unforgettable energy. Like a meaningful thought provoking conversation or an impressionist art piece, their melodies, rhythm and ideas intertwine and inspire.
The Tenor players are backed by some of Australia’s finest musicians. Luke Howard (piano), Danny Farrugia (drums), Jonathan Zion (bass) will make up fthe Delecca Quartet). Kim Kelaart (Hammond organ), Darryn Farrugia (drums) and Craig Fermanis (guitar) round out the Keijzer Quartet.

"Delecca, Howard, Zion and Farrugia have made one of the finest tenor quartet albums I have heard this year – animal strong and caress soft, fiery yellow and cool blue. It is a jazz format that is one of the most satisfying of all within the canon, and they do it so well. So well, in fact, that they deserve your ears. They already have mine."
John Hardaker, Nov 7th, 2013, australianjazz.net
"A truly beautiful and thoughtful album, and unquestionably deserving of our album of the week here at Eastside Radio."
